1. Oprah Winfrey

Oprah founded and continues to fund the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, which is a girls’ school in South Africa. The Academy serves the most underprivileged South African girls, many of them AIDS orphans and all from households surviving on less than $950 a month.

“It’s not just about being able to write a check. It’s being able to touch somebody’s life.” – Oprah Winfrey

2. Angelina Jolie

You may already know that Angelina Jolie has adopted three children, but what you may not know is that she also supports the international and domestic missions of SOS Children’s Villages. In addition, she works passionately with Global Action for Children.

“I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden, but as a great opportunity. Their education is an investment in our future. They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong — stronger than most.” – Angelina Jolie

“One of Angelina’s highest priorities is protecting children without family.” – Heather Paul, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages

3. Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness

Deborra-Lee is the executive director of Worldwide Orphans Foundation in Australia. Deborra-Lee, along with her husband, are outspoken advocates for adoption and orphan care.

“In my mind, one of the greatest crimes of humanity is to take away the innocence of a child and this is in essence what we are doing if we do not step up and take a look at what is happening to abandoned children all over the world.” – Deborra-Lee Furness
